THREE WAYS to do Lower Thirds in OBS with a whole new way included!

So one of my students who just took my course was obviously looking to do one particular thing with his OBS setup and dropped me a message today if I could help him do an A > Z kinda video about how to do that — I’ve got a couple of static and animated ways of doing it but none of them are ‘intime’ for when you are doing streaming as such, you need to pre-make ahead of time, which let’s be honest most of the time that’s the case.

But then today someone dropped this idea of a plugin in my lap and I just had to see what it could do — found myself kicking myself like why didn’t I think of that before?!

It uses a combination of html, js (equerry) and images and you can use it for a fairly hackable css layout overlay system and it works pretty damn great, if you are looking for something where you are changing names live then this might work pretty good for you, even improve it for additional layouts maybe.

So, in this video, I take a look at three ways of doing the lower thirds.

• static sized graphic layout with dynamic text (just the graphic + text)
• animated overlay as a video in keynote (not editable, but could easily make new ones and export from keynote)
• or the new way which is this jQuery text html layout builder! It’s neat.
