Reject it. Reject the idea that you shouldn't trust what you can see with your own two eyes. Reject the idea that you can become a part of the ruling class. Why would you even want to be one of those assholes? Embrace humanity. Embrace community. Embrace the idea that the tree is another form of this planet, as you are a form of this planet. You evolved differently, and you both live. You and the ant, the rat, the dolphin, the arachnid, me, we all grow out of this earth and we will all return to this earth. This earth is a beautiful place. I'm so thankful to be here. I've felt very at peace today, somehow, even as emotions roiled around me. It isn't always this way, but somehow today, it was. I think it's partly because I'm really looking forward to school starting again, and then to our trip to New Orleans. I am very thankful I have these things to look forward to. And it could all change, but for today, right now, I'm safe. Even the dog is safe, the foster dog, the sweet pea, Suesse. We are doing what we can. This is all so temporary, but we remember. The human brain can hold a lot. Maybe more.
