π The Hive Never Sleeps... Apparently Neither Do I.
Hello frenz...
Guess I can't help myself.
I told myself I was going to slow down and work on other things. I really did. But here I am again... stuck to this project like a bee that found the biggest flower in the field.
So what have I been up to?
Well... quite a lot.
I've somehow plugged myself directly into 220 volts because the commits just keep coming. Every time I cross one thing off the list, two more ideas show up.
I figured we could all use a little good news these days, so here's a quick look at everything that landed this week.
π Weekly Progress Report β June 19β25, 2026
This was one of the busiest weeks Snapie has had so far. The focus was on making the app smarter, easier to explore, more welcoming to people from around the world, and a whole lot smoother to use.
Let's see what the little bee has been building...
π§ Smarter Posts
One of the biggest additions this week was integrating CombFlow, which gives Snapie a much better understanding of the content being shared on Hive.
Posts can now automatically detect their language, estimate sentiment, identify their main topics, and even warn you before opening NSFW content.
Profile pages also became much more interesting. You'll now find writing insights like:
- Your favorite topics
- Languages you write in
- How long you've been on Hive
- Your most active communities
The Explore page also starts learning what you're interested in, suggesting topics based on your own writing.
Behind the scenes, I also cleaned up how all this information is fetched, making everything more reliable while cutting out a bunch of unnecessary requests.
π A Better Explore Page
Finding good content is one of the hardest problems on Hive.
The Explore page now includes a proper Trending Posts section, complete with thumbnails, payouts, comment counts, and the ability to switch between your community and all of Hive.
Only actual blog posts are shown there, making it much easier to discover long-form content.
π Translation Has Arrived
This is one of my favorite additions.
Snapie can now translate both Snaps and full blog posts directly inside the app.
No copying text.
No opening another website.
Just click the little globe icon.
If your browser already speaks the same language as the post, Snapie is smart enough not to show the translation button at all.
Sometimes the smallest quality-of-life improvements end up being the most satisfying.
π’ Sharing Got Better
Sharing content is now much easier.
Posts and Snaps can now be shared directly to X, and preview images have become much smarter, especially for 3Speak videos and posts that don't include traditional images.
It's one of those improvements most people won't notice until they need it... and then they'll wonder how it wasn't there before.
β€οΈ Patron System
A lot of people have asked how they can support Snapie.
Now there's finally a proper way.
Supporting the project earns you recognition throughout the app with Patron badges, a place in the Hall of Fame, and a dedicated Patron section.
Nothing is locked behind a paywall.
The goal isn't to sell featuresβit's simply to recognize the people helping keep the hive buzzing.
π Making the Feed Better
A handful of features landed this week to make browsing feel a little nicer.
There's now a Who to Follow sidebar that highlights active community members you may not have discovered yet.
Conversation threads can now be sorted by newest or by top payouts.
Even the Home button got a little smarter. Clicking it while you're already on the homepage now resets everything back to a clean starting point instead of leaving you wherever you happened to be.
Little things... but they all add up.
π Bug Hunt
No development week would be complete without chasing bugs around the hive.
This week included fixes for:
- ThreeSpeak video playback
- Reply window focus issues
- Feed loading bugs
- IPFS media rendering
- Profile website links
- Mobile navigation
- Windows dark mode UI quirks
- Lots of little interface polish across the app
None of these are flashy, but together they make Snapie feel faster, cleaner, and much more reliable.
π This Week in Numbers
π 20 commits merged
π Around 50 files updated
π Over 2,500 new lines of code
Not every week is this productive, but every now and then it's fun to stop, look back, and realize just how much has been built in only a few days.
There's still a mountain left to climb, but Snapie is starting to feel more complete with every release.
As always, thank you to everyone testing the app, reporting bugs, suggesting ideas, and cheering this little bee on.
You make all of this worth building.
Now...
Let's see what next week brings. π
