My devotion

My devotion was like that of wandering souls, those who roam the world aimlessly. For them, God is everything… for me, you were everything. I would have burned, yes… I would have let the fire turn my bones to ash rather than allow a blasphemy in your name. But that damned angel showed me the truth: the worst of blasphemies was my devotion to you. Now you burn in every verse I read until you are extinguished… and my soul, at last, is freed from this prison.
