Lapse-rate
The rate of temperature decrease in the atmosphere with increasing altitude. The environment lapse rate is about 1'F for every 300 feet of ascent,or,0.6'C per every 100 metres.this normal lapse rate may be interrupted by inversion, and it is affected markedly by the vertical ascent of air parcels of different temperature and humidity.
