Dendrochronology
The working out of the climatic chronology of the past, using the evidence of tree-rings, since each reflects in its width the temperature and precipitation of the year in which it was formed. For example, in south-west U. S. A., where a master-index has been constructed from the douglas fir,this is of great value to archaeologists dating pre-historiv indian cultures.
