Mandela Marathon
Mandela marathon, was first run in 2012, I was fortunate enough to be one of the first people to run this very grueling race. It starts in Imbali (Pietermaritzburg KZN SA) were you run through the informal Imbali settlement for about 6km, from there, the huge task of running the notorious 8km Struggle hill to Sweetwaters Hilton. Hilton is the 42km half way mark and the start of the 21km. From Hilton we take a meander through Cedara and Merevale to Howick sport stadium and then fight our way passed the beautiful Midmar Dam to the Official Mandela Capture site. Where you are greeted by a magnificent statue of the iconic man. This has to be one of the toughest races I have ever completed. But it is amazing to be a part of History
