Lights on the horizon | Night Photography Competition - Round 09 [EN-ES]

Hello, lovers of the night and photography!

It is a great pleasure to discover this space; I find it fantastic, given the subject matter and the posts I’ve enjoyed before venturing to share some of my own nocturnal wanderings through time.

For many Cubans residing in Cuba, the days turn into perpetual nights—owing to the darkness found in various forms of symbolism—and the nights do so as well.

In my case, coming home at night has lately become "normal"—whether through the magic of the night, under the stars, by moonlight... or sometimes, above them. The thing is, I’m almost always "walking on clouds."

This time is no different. After enjoying a play and, later, a concert of exceptional musical quality in the city center, I find there is no electricity on my way home; yet, the delight lingers as I contemplate the gifts of the evening. The truth is, the moon has always drawn me in, becoming a source of refuge and a confidante during my sleepless nights.

I mentioned the symbolic, and I find myself wanting to play with that at every turn.

Lampposts without electricity, yet with the beautiful moon—as if hanging from them, or rather, conversing and playing at becoming that light one chases on the horizon, beyond the shadows—be they lines or trees to be embraced like the wives of their owners, likewise beneath the stars, and yes, beneath the moon acting as an accomplice.

In the meantime, I smile and invite you along as I say goodbye—for now—until the next nocturnal snapshot.

¡Hola amantes de la noche y la fotografía!

Es un placer enorme descubrir este espacio que me parece estupendo por la temática y las publicaciones que he ido apreciando antes de aventurarme a compartir parte de mis nocturnas andanzas sobre el tiempo.

Para muchos cubanos, residentes en Cuba, los días se tornan noches perpetuas, por lo oscuro en la simbología diversa, y las noches, también.

En mi caso, regresar en la noches a casa, últimamente se ha vuelto "normal" sea a través de la magia de la noche, bajo las estrellas, la luz de luna... O a veces, sobre ellas. Es que casi siempre "ando sobre las nubes".

Esta ocasión no es diferente. Luego de haber estado disfrutando de una obra de teatro, y más tarde de un concierto de gran factura musical en el centro urbano, no hay electricidad camino casa, pero el deleite continúa mientras voy contemplando los regalos del viaje. Es que la luna siempre me ha atraído y se ha convertido en parte de mi refugio o confidente de mis desvelos nocturnos.

Mencioné lo simbólico, y con ello se me ocurre jugar a cada paso.

Farolas sin electricidad, pero con la hermosa luna como quien se cuelga de ellas, o más bien, dialoga, juega a convertirse en esa luz que uno persigue en el horizonte, tras las sombras, bien sean líneas o árboles a quienes abrazar como quien abraza a la mujer de sus dueños, igual bajo las estrellas, y sí, bajo la luna como cómplice.

Mientras, sonrío invitándoles a ustedes mientras me voy despidiendo, por ahora, hasta un próximo fotograma nocturno.
