Fragile Matter, a different kind of exhibition [ENG-ESP]

Hello, lovers of photography and of discovering new things in our daily lives!

It is raining right now, and the gray atmosphere envelops me. Determined not to let sadness dampen my spirits, I am browsing my phone's gallery to find something I might have overlooked—something I haven't yet shared with you all on Hive.

That is how I remembered this photography exhibition; I had forgotten to tell you about it when it was actually taking place. In any case, I am sharing it with you now, hoping you enjoy it.

If you pause to contemplate each painting at your leisure, who knows—you might share the interpretation and appreciation that prompted me to bring them to your attention.

These are paintings in which the body serves as the territory where human pain and suffering are inscribed, alongside the exploration of personal identity and the relationships the individual maintains—both with society and with the self.

Physical presence shapes us as recipients of lived experiences. Just as we perceive them and transform them into reality, we also imagine and recreate them through intimate experience.

This exhibition offers a deeply self-referential journey in which the personal becomes a gateway to the universal. Materia frágil (Fragile Matter), by Cuban photographer Gabriela de Gil, brings together a body of work shaped by reflection and a quest to understand the inner world and the female condition, with the body serving as the central symbolic element.

The presentation of an isolated, specifically illuminated figure in an empty stage space is an expression of the fragile subject characteristic of contemporary times.

In contrast, its articulation with diverse objects and elements gives tangible form to the release of hidden passions, fears, and internal frustrations.

Time, space, and energy—often violent—accompany the corporeal as a metaphor for the intimate; individual experiences serve as tools for reflecting on subjectivity and the bonds one forms with oneself and with the political, social, and cultural environment.

Subjected to various actions, the body becomes a vehicle for representing ideas, for storytelling, rebellion, and combat. It is also an inner cry emerging from everyday interaction.

This photographic work explores subjectivities, translating them into the realm of the figurative based on the conviction that only through this method can the human being access the deepest dialogue: the dialogue with what has been spoken.

And, in anticipation of that dialogue, I bid you farewell—though not without first offering each of you an embrace of light!

¡Hola amantes de la fotografía y el descubrimiento de lo nuevo en el camino del día a día!

Llueve en estos momentos y el gris de la atmósfera me abraza. Pretendo no dejarme marchitar por la tristeza e indago en la galería de mi teléfono para encontrar algo que haya pasado por alto y aún no les hubiese compartido en Hive.

Así me viene a la memoria esta exposición fotográfica sobre la que había olvidado comentarles en su fecha precisa. De cualquier manera, acá se las muestro con la intención de que la disfruten.

Si se detienen a contemplar cada cuadro con calma, quién sabe si coinciden en la lectura y apreciación que me motiva traérselos a la palestra.

Cuadros en los que el cuerpo es el territorio donde se inscriben el dolor y el sufrimiento humano, la exploración de la identidad personal y las relaciones entre el individuo, tanto con la sociedad como consigo mismo.

La presencia física nos configura como receptores de vivencias. Así como las percibimos y transformamos en su realidad, también la imaginamos y recreamos desde la experiencia íntima.

Esta muestra propone un recorrido profundamente autoreferencial en el que lo personal se convierte en vía de acceso a lo universal. Materia frágil, cuya autora es la fotógrafa cubana Gabriela de Gil, reúne un conjunto de obras atravesadas por la reflexión y la búsqueda de entendimientos del mundo interior y de la condición femenina, donde el cuerpo constituye el principal aspecto simbólico.

La exposición de una figura aislada y específicamente iluminada en un espacio escénico vacío es la expresión del sujeto fragilizado, propio de la contemporaneidad.

En contraste, su articulación con objetos y elementos diversos materializa la liberación de pasiones ocultas, miedos y frustraciones internas.

El tiempo, el espacio y la energía, frecuentemente violenta, acompañan lo corpóreo como metáfora de lo íntimo y las vivencias individuales operando cual herramientas para pensar la subjetividad y los vínculos con uno mismo y con el entorno político, social y cultural.

El cuerpo, sometido a diversas acciones, se convierte en el vehículo para la representación de ideas, la narración, rebelión y el combate. Es además, grito interno que emerge de la interacción cotidiana.

Este trabajo fotográfico indaga en las subjetividades para traducirlas al plano de lo figurativo desde la convicción de que, solo a través de este método, el ser humano accede al diálogo más profundo: el diálogo con lo dicho.
