PAINTING BANKNOTES FOR A UNIVERSITY CLASS [ENG/ESP]
Hello HIVE, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying being able to appreciate the wonderful creative expressions that art gives us.
Hola HIVE espero que todos se encuentren muy bien disfrutando de poder apreciar las maravillosas expresiones creativas que el arte nos regala.
During my absence from my Hiveblog, I kept busy with many art-related activities and continued my academic studies at the art university. Today, I'm here to share an activity I did in a class about popular knowledge and traditions, a very entertaining activity that I loved experiencing this past semester.
En este tiempo que pase ausente en mi hiveblog me mantuve realizando muchas actividades relacionadas al arte y continue con mis estudios académicos en la universidad de artes; hoy he venido a compartir una actividad que realice en una clase sobre saberes populares y tradiciones, una dinámica muy entretenida que me encanto poder experimentar en este último semestre que cerro.
For the class we had to creatively intervene in a devalued banknote from an old monetary system of the country, as part of an anthropophagic proposal, taking a banknote that no longer has value and transforming and re-signifying it with an artistic interpretation that represents the essence of the country (Venezuela) and thus we revalue our culture.
Para la clase teníamos que intervenir de manera creativa un billete devaluado de un antiguo cono monetario del país, como parte de una propuesta antropofágica, tomando un billete que ya no tiene valor y transformándolo y resignificándolo con una interpretación artística que represente la esencia del país (Venezuela) y así revalorizamos nuestra cultura.
I decided to depict an Araguaney tree, one of the national patriotic symbols, but when I went to check what paints I had, I realized that I only had the colors red, orange, black, white and blue left, so I had to work with those tones and I made a night scene of a tree trying to represent the Araguaney.
Decidí representar un árbol Araguaney, uno de los símbolos patrióticos nacionales, pero cuando fui a revisar que pinturas tenia, me di cuenta de que solo me quedaban los colores rojo, naranja, negro blanco y azul, así que tuve que resolver con esos tonos y realicé una escena nocturna de un árbol intentando representar el Araguaney.
We then used that bill to symbolically pay for admission to a film forum that we held in the same class (I don't have the photographs of the film forum activity). Since there were two film forum screenings, we had to alter a second bill to be able to "pay for admission" to the screening.
Ese billete luego lo usamos para pagar simbólicamente una entrada a un cine foro que realizamos en la misma clase (no tengo las fotografías de la actividad de cine foro) como fueron dos funciones de cine foro que se realizaron tuvimos que intervenir un segundo billete para poder "pagar la entrada" a la función.
For the second banknote I decided to represent the same tree, but now from another perspective. I used exactly the same color tones, but I emphasized presenting the tree trunk and making the vanishing point the moon peeking through the spaces free of leaves.
Para el segundo billete decidí representar el mismo árbol, pero ahora desde otra perspectiva, use exactamente las mismas tonalidades de color, pero hice énfasis en presentar el tronco del árbol y que el punto de fuga sea la luna que se asoma entre los espacios libres de hojas.
Then we used those same bills as a prize for a domino tournament we organized with our classmates. My team and I made it to the semifinals, but we lost. It was a really fun experience that helped us bond in class and get to know each other better. I hope you enjoyed this story. Good vibes!
Luego con esos mismos billetes los usamos como premio para un torneo de domino que organizamos entre los compañeros de clases, en el que junto a mi equipo llegamos hasta la semifinal, pero nos ganaron. De verdad fue una experiencia muy entretenida que nos permitió unirnos en la clase y conocernos más entre nosotros; Espero les haya gustado esta experiencia, buenas vibras.
