The sunset turned pink, and I was surprised when I stepped out onto the balcony of my house and saw those clouds covering the sky.

El atardecer se pinto de rosado y me sorprendio cuando me asomé al balcón de mi casa y vi las nubes cubriendo el cielo.

The sky had clouds that looked like they might bring rain. I had been hoping for a downpour—as we say in my country—a heavy rain, a deluge, a downpour. We have several names for that intense, refreshing rain that can last a short or long time.

El cielo tenia unas nubes que podian ser de lluvia. Yo habia estado deseando que cayera un palo de agua, como le decimos en mi pais a una lluvia fuerte, un aguacero, un chaparrón. Son varios los nombres que les damos a esa lluvia intensa, sabrosa que bien puede durar poco o mucho tiempo.

For me, rain is always welcome to ease the heat, cool the air, and water the plants.

Para mi la lluvia siempre es bienvenida, mitiga el calor, refresca el ambiente y riega las plantas.

And even though sunsets are usually shades of red, orange, or yellow, this time pink and purple prevailed. The last rays of the sun faded behind the clouds, giving them that pink hue—a spectacle of nature.

Y aún cuando los atardeceres generalmente son de tonos rojizos, naranja o amarillo, en esta oportunidad el rosa y el morado prevalecieron. Los últimos rayos del sol se difuminaron tras las nubes dandoles esa tonalidad rosada, un espectáculo de la naturaleza.

And the photos I took captured that moment, which didn't last long because, as is often the case with sunsets, the colors gradually faded into the darkness of the night.

Y las fotos que hice captaron ese momento, que no duró mucho porque, como suele ocurrir con las puestas de sol, los colores se desvanecieron poco a poco en la oscuridad de la noche.
