Simple Cooking: Korean Spinach Salad As A Side Dish
Hi hive food bloggers. Today I want to share my favorite Korean side dish (banchan). It named Sigeumchi namul. Sigeumchi namul is a Korean side dish (banchan) made from spinach that is briefly boiled and seasoned with sesame oil, garlic, and roasted sesame oil.
The spinach is only cooked briefly, so it remains crisp. This simple and delicious dish is perfect as a tasty lunch side dish. This side dish is incredibly simple and quick to prepare.
Ingredients:
- 250 g spinach
- water for boiling spinach
- 1 spring onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp ground pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder or paprika powder
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
Steps:
Cut the spinach roots and wash it thoroughly under running water.
Boil water in a pot for 5 minutes. Once the water is boiling, add the spinach to the pot and cook for 30 seconds.
Remove the spinach and drain, then rinse the spinach with cold water
Squeeze the spinach gently to remove the water
Cut the boiled spinach into 3 pieces using a knife
Put it into a bowl
Add chopped green onions, chopped garlic, ground pepper, salt, red chili powder, roasted sesame seeds, and sesame oil to the spinach pieces
Mix well with your hands
Serve with a bowl of rice and other main dishes
