Trust once lost cannot be regained entirely.

I was very close to the manager at the previous workplace, such that I often helped him out with classified information about some of the staff in the organisation. I worked as a Secret Service agent. Oftentimes, my information will help him take some strategic actions that enable him to succeed as a manager.

I trusted him with my information because I thought that he wouldn't divulge such information to the public, or even if he did, he would be meticulous with it. One fateful day, as a result of a misunderstanding among staff, he expressly aired out the classified information to the public and mentioned my name as the custodian and originator. I was dumbfounded and disappointed by his immature and childish attitude. However, he later apologised and asked me to let go of it. He can never behave in such a way no matter the situation. I told him that I've heard him.

From that moment, I never entrusted him with any information, and as a result of that, he was relieved of his duties not long after.

That has been one of the many instances in which my trust has been broken. Hence I learned my lesson the hard way.

I usually liken trust to a ceramic product; either a plate, a cup, or another product. Once it falls to the ground and breaks, no matter how you try to mend it, you cannot restore it to its original state.

As a saying goes, once bitten, twice shy, so is trust. Any trust you betrayed cannot be entrusted no matter how the person pretends to buy it back. Therefore, the sure way to maintain trust is never to lose it. That's one hundred per cent true because once you lose it, you can't earn it completely.
