Ficción: Muy buenos amigos/ Very good friends (ESP/ ENG) 👨🏻🍼💕

Dad visited me every night. At first, there was a great silence between us, the same silence that had been between us for so many years and that my mother, unable to say no, had provoked with her insistent words:
"Your father didn't want you to be born. I was the one who rebelled and decided to have you. Then he had no choice but to accept you," she repeated every time Dad and I went out and came back with a smile.
"If it hadn't been for me, you would have died, because your father wanted me to have an abortion," she pointed out mercilessly, without disguising her words, burying the dagger deep inside.

And so, as I grew up, silence began to define our father-son relationship and create distance between us.
At first, Dad thought my silence was due to my adolescence, and although he tried several times to get me to talk about interesting topics—sports, girls, cars—there came a point when he gave up, and after that, the chasm between us became so vast that neither of us could bridge it. Silence had achieved what my mother had always wanted: to separate us.

Well, when he first started visiting me, he would just sit on the sofa or stand in the doorway. Not a word, not a glance, just sitting still, while I did the same.
Then, I don't know why, on one of those visits, I had come home from work and was so tired that I told him to leave, that I didn't want to see him. I remember my face was in my hands, and when I looked up, he was gone. More than feeling relief, I couldn't stop crying, and I cried for all the years I hadn't cried.

After that incident, days, maybe weeks, passed without me seeing him, and although I didn't want to admit it, I missed him terribly. So one night, I felt he had arrived and called him from my room: "Dad, Dad!" He came and sat on my bed.
I've forgotten what I said to him first, and what I said next; maybe it was "I forgive you," or maybe it was "Forgive me." I only know that from that day on, there was no more silence between us. Every day he comes, I tell him about my life, not just what's happening now, but also what I've experienced in the past. Ironically, after his death, Dad visits me daily, and we've become very close friends.
