Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been quite shy—to the point where I didn’t even like it when people looked at me too much. And although I’ve gotten past that now, even when I take photos on the street, I still try to avoid drawing too much attention to myself; going unnoticed is my main strategy. |

In Havana, early in the morning—which is when I like to go out—people are usually minding their own business and don’t pay much attention to the photographer, but as the day goes on, that’s when curiosity about the guy with the camera starts to kick in. |

I remember a woman who recently asked me—or rather, grilled me—about why and for whom I was taking those photos; she just wanted to know everything. |

And so I go exploring every corner of the city—or at least part of it—because there are other places I’d never dare to go alone. |
|
A question comes to mind: What’s your strategy when you’re shooting on the street? Do you prefer to stand out or go unnoticed like me? |
