Echoes of the Tehran Grand Bazaar

While wandering through the historical Tehran Grand Bazaar searching for architectural subjects to shoot, I stumbled upon one of the mosques hidden in the alleys of the ancient bazaar. The mosque was located at the end of the dead-end street, and it was closed for restoration.

However, right at that moment, this man entered the alley. It was evident that he wanted to make a phone call somewhere secluded from the busy bazaar. As soon as he took a spot on the road, I had to take a photo because the atmosphere and the man’s pose were perfect. Besides, his appearance demonstrated an unforced and spontaneous character, which made him more interesting than any architectural structures could ever be. Indeed, the architecture of the place was unique, but the alley was the place where urban life revealed itself through the solitude of its inhabitants. And this man was a part of this solitude, and I had to capture it with my camera.

The Tehran Grand Bazaar is the center of commercial activity in the Iranian capital. It is a complex of ancient caravanserais, mosques, and other buildings linked by narrow alleys where people have been walking for centuries. However, despite the constant flow of people and the continuous noise, the bazaar has its dead ends where people can find a moment of peace and solitude.
