Why thinning is important in veggies farming and Agriculture
Hello Hive
A pleasant Afternoon to us all and happy Salah Celebration to all my Muslim friends. Today we decided to pick some veggies from the farm for soup because as it is the festive period everyone is out celebrating and there is no one in sight in the farm. The veggies were well watered on Thursday and are still doing fine
While checking on the okro, they are also growing and coming in well and this is just the perfect timing to carry out some thinning exercise for them. Thinning is important in Agriculture and some vegetables farming. Although spinach and jute mallow or some vegetables do not require this excercise as those ones can grow in cluster, there are some vegetables and grains that require thinking before they can do well.
Some plants needs to be at least 2-3strands after planting for them to do well. And while planting these crops it's mostly impossible for one to plant just 2strands of this particular crop. Thinning is done at one of the best stages of the growth of these plants. If this excercise is not done, overcrowding can cause them not to produce well.
Whenever this exercise is to be done, we have to be careful not to uproot more than the unecceary overcrowded crops, not all plants or veggies can survive after being transplanted hence the uprooted part are often thrown away and once one uproota more than the necessary number of plant the highly needed ones will be discarded as well.
To make the exercise easy it is advisable to wet the plants which makes the uprooting of less wanted crops easy while leaving the desired amount of quantity.
The advancement in growth of these okro has been highly impressive and this can be attributed to the quality of the soil you see in the picture and every labour that has been put in place keeping the farm free of grasses before planting. Hopefully everyone will resume here actively and we can continue our work and Hussle here😁😃
