Learn about the different Kinds of feeds for Poults and farm animals, We are two weeks old now.
Hello Hive.
Our Bunnies and New poults are now two weeks old and growing up really faster than I thought.
The bunnies that used to be really shy are no longer that shy anymore.
For the first one week of their lives, these bunnies are typically shy and have stayed glued to each other. But now that are stronger and now run around the cage. I never knew that in less than 14days of their lives they can become this strong.
Only one of the bunnies us still very shy and often runs to an extreme edge of the cage to hide itself anytime it sees a human approaching. You can see how the other rest are free and jumping about their cages.
I have tried to at least catch them even if it is once on their mum's breast milk but that has been difficult. It is difficult to know when they feed and all that, for the first few weeks of their lives, they will have to depend on their mum's milk for food while we feed the mum with varieties of food and protein so that she can breastfeed them well. Their mother here too is a bit relieved from the labour stress and has been very much active as well.
Can you see the new poults on the other hand, they are always eating and never satisfied. One has to learn a new feeding plan for this animals especially the poults, overfeeding or underfeeding often have their side effects in birds especially layers and broiler chicken and considering the financial implications of buying their feeds we often rotate and feed them on a timed basis.
There are different kinds of feeds. Since we are still feeding them on the ready made and sold poultry feeds there are about two kinds of the feeds.
Some are made of softer granules shap so that new birds can feed easily in them while as they grow and approach 3months of age they begin to feed on the ones with larger granules.
Hardly will you pass the compound with a plate of food without all the birds in the compound chasing after you. Even if it were our little ones that passes here with some snacks, they will jump on the children and want to snatch whatever it is that they are eating.
The older turkeys live in the left overs from our kitchen, they are fully grown now and easy to maintain hence we do not bother about feeding them with expensive meals.
