Questions - a poem

You ask questions and avoid answers
Profound - or so you like to believe
Riddles and enigmas
That shed light on your shallow thoughts
Idealisms and passing fancies

Their not yours, are they?
You heard them elsewhere and
Rephrased them - poorly
Under the guise of your own wit and wisdom
You attempt to speak life into another idea
But they were already breathing
They were already alive

you spread their notion wafer-thin
Unrecognizable, yet still with the body
You leave what you can't understand
Praying it's all filler
Doesn't matter, does it?
It's the admiration you seek
Not what is true
And good
And meaningful

And if you're lucky
And not found a fraud
Tiny seeds will grow inside your head
Pushing out the rot and lies and veils
Nurturing the ideas
You "borrowed"
Into the tree of knowledge

your free will tested
Will you dine on the fruit and become aware
Or let it rot
And remain
You
