Online Shopping Story: Our Barong Order Experience

‎I’m sure many of us love shopping online. It’s convenient, right? And it's cheaper.

‎But sometimes, things don’t go exactly as planned.

‎That’s exactly what happened with the barong I ordered for my hubby.

‎When I placed the order, it was clearly stated that it was a pre-order, with a waiting time of 10 days.

‎I understood that fully. But being someone who naturally likes things done quickly, I couldn’t help but message the seller and ask if they could ship it sooner. Even though I knew it might not be possible. 😅

‎I just thought, “Who knows? Maybe they agree to my requests!” Hahaha.

‎Then they replied that they do not accommodate rush orders, so I just said “okay” and waited patiently.

‎The next day, the seller messaged me again.

‎They asked if we would like a slightly different style. Instead of the fully open barong shown in the listing. They would send half-open, but the same size and design.

‎I asked my hubby, and he said, “No problem.”

‎So I chatted with the seller and we agreed, and the item arrived last Monday.

‎But when we opened the package and my hubby tried it on, it was too big for him.

‎We felt sad because it wasn’t cheap. We really wanted it to fit perfectly.

‎My hubby always wears a Medium size, so I thought maybe they sent the wrong size.

‎I messaged the seller right away, explaining that their “Medium” was much larger than usual. They replied that the tag marked “M” was correct, and that was their standard Medium size.



‎I then asked if we could just return or exchange it, since it’s useless if it can’t be worn. But they said their policy was “no returns,” and they also didn’t have smaller sizes in stock.

‎I felt stuck in a moment, but I remembered that Shopee has buyer protection.

‎I waited for the Return/Refund option to appear, submitted clear photos, explained the issue, and stated that the sizing did not match the seller's size chart provided.








‎To my surprise, Shopee acted fast. They approved free return shipping right away.



‎The rider picked it up the next day, and even though it said the refund would take 1 working day, the money was already in my Shopee wallet instantly!




‎So why did I share this? Well, like what I said earlier... online shopping is convenient.

‎BUT not every seller or product is perfect.

‎Always check policies, take photos when unboxing, and don’t hesitate to use the platform’s support when things go wrong.

‎Every peso we earn matters... So let’s make sure we spend it wisely and protect our purchases.
