Kindness Knows No Borders: A Message For Venezuela— LOH#298
When disasters like this happen, a lot of us often focus on the destruction and all; we don't actually think about or pay attention to those who are doing their best to give us hope even in that calamity. Talk of medical teams, rescue workers, and some other volunteers who risked and are risking their own lives to help and are helping survivors, just like the earthquake incident in Venezuela. They definitely deserve much more than a "thank you."
And honestly, if I had the opportunity, I would make sure that they are not just appreciated, but that they are also well rewarded, supported, and recognized. They deserve everything for putting themselves in the line of danger too. A lot of them will eventually return home feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, hurt, injured, and even some traumatized as well.
When I first heard about the happenings in Venezuela, even though I'm a Nigerian, I posted on my WhatsApp status to check in on people and another social media account of mine. I also made a wave on ecency and a snap on peakD to check in on everyone in Venezuela. It isn't much, but it was just my own way of checking in on them and letting them know that before we are of different nationalities, we are all humans first. I added a few words of encouragement to each, especially for the survivors.
Also, about donations, I feel the door for international donations should never be closed. This is the time when all government parastatal and private organizations, NGOs, and the like should work hand in hand to make donations easy and well transparent so people all around the world can give with confidence. No matter how small the donations are, bit by bit, I know it will add up to get/provide something.... Talk of food, shelter, torches, blankets, medicine, and some other things.
Countries have borders with their neighboring countries; even if they are on good terms, they still have borders. The same does not apply to kindness; kindness does not understand the language of borders, meaning kindness has no border whatsoever. If we can't travel to help, our resources can go for us, we can donate, we can send resources, we can encourage, and we can as well pray for those who are affected. Humans are compassionate beings; be compassionate.
To everyone in Venezuela, my prayers are with you. This too shall pass. Keep holding on. And to everyone going through a tough time, it won't last forever..
