The Comfort Trap

20260708_163301.jpg

This morning like many other colder morning lately, I keep waking up a little later than usual.

The alarm rings but that's about it. I acted like I had nothing to do while in reality, I have dozens to think about and figure out.

Unsure why I am writing this out loud but here it is

Somehow, whenever I stay at this home, among many other homes I stayed in, my brain turns into " you're safe here, you don't have to work hard, it's a vacation for you now". That recently revealed something of how environment really shapes me and how easy it was for me to let my guard down.

Typically, I'd visit this house only a couple of times in a year because I tend to live outside, working on things that makes me feel like a hamster in a loop. Then this home provides comfort.

I don't have to do chores.
I never have to worry about my meals.
I never have to worry about laundry.
I never have to worry about domestic households.

All I have to worry about was how to keep the lights on and everyone fed.

While it sounds pretty nice, I love it at times but parts of me felt like some sense of discipline was being tested. As I was working on solving a problem, I realized how frustrating my day felt like.

Typically.... my week looks like

Traveling to some towns for work. Deal with people. Go back home to recharge and repeat. I love it. I enjoy the thrills of it and basically I am getting used to it now but because these past 2 weeks, there was no travel for me and just basically all documents work. It sounds pretty boring but obviously, I get a little too complacent and it isn't good.

I started thinking about how I've got nothing going in life.

Objectively, that isn't true.

There are things I am building.
There are courses and classes I am teaching.
And dozens of things I am taking care of.

When I froze like this, I realized that honestly during my busy days all those realization wasn't there because of the noise. Once I don't have distraction, chores or extra tabs and tasks inside my brain, somehow I could see how clear things are.

I am still far from where I wanted and I need to continue closing the gap rather than giving it all up just as I used to.
