HOMEMADE MANGO PIE
Hello everyone, this is back again with another cooking blog to share!! 👩🏻‍🍳
I think most of us—actually, all of us—know what mango pie is, right? It is very popular, especially here in the Philippines, in fast food chains like Jollibee and McDonald’s. It is commonly called “Peach Mango Pie.” Now, there are also different flavors like apple pie and ube pie, but the most common one is still the Peach Mango Pie.
So, for today’s blog, I will be showing you a recipe I found online. It is actually very easy to make, and of course, the ingredients are few and not that expensive to buy.
We only need an egg, cornstarch, bread crumbs, bread, and the most important one—mangoes. You can also add other ingredients if you like, such as peaches, which you can buy in a can.
The first step is to cut the mangoes into small diced pieces so you can make more filling. Next, add 3 tablespoons of sugar. You can use white or brown sugar depending on what is available. Then, heat your pan on low to medium heat so your food will not burn. Add 1/3 cup of water and mix it. After that, add 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch to help thicken the mixture and bring out the mango’s juice. Once it becomes thick, you can turn off the heat and move on to the next step, which is preparing the bread.
Now, flatten the bread and cut off the sides (the brown edges of the sliced bread).
Then, place the mango filling inside the bread and seal it using an egg.
Dip the bread in egg so the bread crumbs will stick to it. After that, coat it with bread crumbs. You can now cook it on low to medium heat again so it will not burn, since bread burns easily.
And with that…
You now have your homemade mango pie!! Just repeat the same process, and it’s very worth it because you can make and eat a lot! As for me, I cooked more than 5 mango pies, but I wasn’t able to take photos of the others because I was too focused, lol HAHAHAHAHA!!
That’s all, everyone. See you in my next blogs!! 👩🏻‍🍳🤍
