So, Panama
Panamanian Tocumen Airport is the gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America. Panama itself is also worthy of a 1-2 day escapade. In its region, it is a relatively rich, expensive and safe country. Entry without visas and covid passports, the currency is the American dollar, prices in restaurants are European. There is money in the budget and it is spent on useful things: on the third metro line, for example, which this year will connect the city with the airport.
In Latin American capitals, there are ceremonial and non-ceremonial parts. Panama City has a big front end. You can wander all day along the waterfront and the historic quarter and never wander into the slums (although they are not far away). I didn't feel any security risk. Only when crossing the street - you can safely cross at a rare crossing with a traffic light or at an elevated crossing. In other places - just cross yourself and run.
