AFRITUNES WEEK 71 | Ijoba Orun by Lara George
Welcome to Afri-tunes Community; a community where we share, listen to and enjoy African music and tunes on Hive.
This is the 71st week of our weekly contest on Hive. I encourage you to do well to subscribe, join in and present, as well as always check out for lovely African tunes in the Community.
In 2013, when I first began learning how to play the guitar (self-learning process), there were two songs that I would easily play their chord progressions from beginning till the end, because they used static chord progressions. In other words, it wasn't dynamic; the chorus and verses followed same progression. So it was easy to play it because these chords were the basic and easiest chords to play on the guitar. The two songs are Ijoba Orun by Lara George and African Queen by Tuface. Although they have the same progression, the rhythm for both songs were different and that made each of them unique.
Well, today I'm here to present one of these songs. But, this time around I not only played the chord progressions but I also sang the melody of the song over the progression.
Ijoba Orun is a beautiful song by Lara George that speaks about Heaven and the Christian struggle or journey towards attaining Heaven as our final goal and as the reward for believers. It dismisses material possessions as they do not take us to Heaven, and encourages us to rely on God's help and his grace.
I hope you enjoy this piece, and by the way, this is my new Electro-Acoustic Guitar, you can read more about my new Smiger Guitar here.
