AFRITUNES WEEK 49 | African Queen by 2Face
Welcome to Afri-tunes Community weekly event; a community where we share, listen to and enjoy African music and tunes on Hive.
Do well to subscribe and always check out for lovely African tunes in the Community.
Last week in my entry on Nara by Tim Godfrey and Travis Greene, I made a call for suggestions and ideas towards our forthcoming 1st Anniversary celebration. Thankfully, we got pockets of ideas and suggestions from people, and with this... ,
and I were able to brainstorm on some ideas. So far, we've been trying to put these ideas into practice, at the same time thinking of newer ways and greater updates to help boost the celebration.
I wished we were actually together, at least, and
will bring all the rice and chicken that they promised me since Christmas (lol). Unfortunately, 95% of the active viewers and members of this community are scattered across different states in Nigeria, different countries in Africa and different continents as well. Thus, it will be quite impossible to have a physical celebration. Well, thank God for technology, and thank God for virtual celebration. However, distance cannot destroy the friendship, love and joy we've built together while sharing and enjoying African music on this lovely space on Hive. In the same way, distance will not stop
from sending the rice and chicken to me.
I hope you're all getting ready to get your Afri-tunes T-Shirt? Are you? Are you getting ready to present your music or write a music related article?
Don't miss out in the celebration plans, read up here. Also, get ready for a sweet update... I won't give you any clue. You can guess if you can....
For this week, I'm dedicating this beautiful piece to all the beautiful ladies on Hive, especially the ones I'm protecting from (lol).... naa, just a joke.
African Queen is indeed a classic music from the Legendary 2baba (2faceidibia). This song was released in 2004 and I'll term it as an eulogy to a beauty Queen. I believe 2face also tries to emphasise the glories of natural looks over artificial.
I hope you enjoy this little piece.
I recorded the rhythm before hand...
LYRICS OF AFRICAN QUEEN
Just like the sun, lights up the earth, you light up my life
The only one, I've ever seen with a smile so bright
And just yesterday, you came around my way
And changed my whole scenery with your astonishing beauty
Ah, you coulda make a brother sing,
You ordinary thing, a supernatural being
I know you are just brighter than the moon
Brighter than the star, I love you just the way you are
you are my African Queen, the girl of my dreams
You take me where I've never been
You make my heart go ting-a-ling-a-ling, oh ahh
You are my African Queen, the girl of my dreams
And you remind me of a thing
And that is the African beauty
