Aventura extrema en Cascada El Caracol/ Extreme adventure at El Caracol Waterfall [ESP/ENG]
Hello friends of worldmappin, I hope you're having a great week. This time I want to tell you about a trip I recently took with the folks at El Cañaveral Tours to El Caracol Waterfall. If you love adventure, adrenaline, and extreme activities, El Caracol waterfall is the perfect destination for you. This spectacular waterfall, approximately 70 meters high, is located in the Turimiquire mountain range, in San Antonio de Capayacuar, in the northeastern part of Venezuela, in the state of Monagas.
We left very early in the morning from the city of Cumaná, where I live, and then met up with other friends who live in Cumanacoa. To get to this special place, we crossed the community of El Banqueado, in the municipality of Acosta, along a route full of flora and fauna. Afterward, we hiked 1500 meters.
The real adrenaline rush begins where you have to climb six waterfalls using stairs built by the community itself. I must say, despite being handcrafted, they are very safe. At these small waterfalls, people have to duck and move like spiders to avoid falling or slipping on the stairs.
Due to its technical demands and the fact that it is a risky area, the recommendation is to climb the stairs with the help of certified local guides or ecotourism agencies in the region.
Halfway along the trail, you'll find the El Tobogán pool, followed by the 50-meter-high El Chorro waterfall, accessible via a giant 32-meter ladder. Climbing the ladder requires all necessary safety precautions. It's important to note that this trek requires sturdy footwear suitable for river/mountain activities, appropriate clothing, and even specialized climbing equipment for certain sections. I also recommend leaving heavy bags at home.
After enjoying the entire journey and surely experiencing one of the most extreme adventures of your life, you finally arrive at the famous El Caracol waterfall.
