Sweet Spicy Dry Tempe Orek
I usually fry tempeh using flour, sauté it with spices and I have also cooked it using coconut milk. This dry tempe orek is the first time I have cooked it by adding different spices than I usually cook, I learned to make this dish from my mother when I was still at home with her, the taste of this dry tempe is really delicious so it increases my appetite. Besides being healthy, tempe is also my child's favorite food, I always stock tempeh at home without being absent like a staple food.
On this day I will try to make a sweet spicy dry tempe orek menu with a little extra of other spices. All the ingredients are already around my house, it's just that the tempeh that I have to buy is already in stock at home, so it doesn't take time to go out, moreover, dried tempeh might be made in the morning, the shop automatically won't open in the morning except for coffee shops. The materials I need are as follows.
The ingredients
- 2 medium sized tempe boards
- 1 medium size tomato
- 5 green chilies
- 3 red chilies
- 1 clove of onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 3 kaffir lime leaves
- 1 galangal segment
- 1 tablespoon of palm sugar
- 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon of salt
Steps by step
The first step
Cut tempeh in smaller sizes like the picture I show below.
Step Two
Slice all ingredients except kaffir lime leaves. Kaffir lime leaves should be cut into small pieces.
Step Three
Slice the palm sugar into small pieces so that it melts quickly in cooking.
Step Four
Heat the oil, fry the tempe first until browned then remove and drain.
Step Five
Heat the cooking oil for sautéing the spices. When it's hot, add the sliced onions, sauté until fragrant, accompanied by adding the garlic.
Step Six
After the sautéed shallots and whites give off an aroma, add the sliced chilies and tomatoes.
Step Seven
Then add the palm sugar, sweet soy sauce, salt, and saute kaffir lime leaves until cooked.
Step Eight
Add tempeh stir until evenly distributed until the spices meld, ready to serve.
This dried tempe orek is very suitable to be served for all hours of family meals, both morning, afternoon, evening and night. Dry tempe orek for an additional menu for families who have lots of vitamins contained in the tempe. This dish turns out to have a mixed taste with the aroma of sliced galangal and kaffir lime leaves. This is the first time I'm trying to make it addicting tomorrow I want to make it back.
