Commute Stop Scene
Hello Sketchbook Community
I am sharing a new art which was inspired by a fleeting moment during my daily commute. We had a brief stop, and I was able to quickly sketch out this scene before we continued on our way. I've been exploring how to get that spontaneous, on location sketchbook feel with digital tools. See below
This was where I started just laying down the basic shapes and composition. The squiggly lines are pretty obvious. I was trying to get a feel for the scene and figure out where the main points of interest were. It's all about those quick, loose lines at this stage.
In this step, I started adding a bit more definition, refining the lines a bit, and thinking about the light and shadow. You can see I began to suggest some of the textures and details and that color of the sky.
Here's the final piece. I added more color to bring the scene to life, but I wanted to keep that raw, feeling of a sketchbook drawing. It's about capturing the essence of the place, not necessarily every single detail.
Hope you enjoyed seeing the process I find it so interesting to try and replicate traditional techniques digitally.
