Mundu fruit has the scientific name Garcinia dulcis, this mundu fruit comes from Indonesia (especially the islands of Java and Kalimantan) and the Philippines. This mundu is closely related to the mangosteen fruit.
This mundu plant, the Javanese people themselves are called baros or klendeng, the Minahasa people call it mamundung fruit, while the Sundanese call it jawura.
This mundu plant grows in wet tropical forests that have adapted in a shady environment. Mundu fruit is round to oval in shape, around 5-8 cm in diameter.
Mundu fruit skin is thin and smooth, bright yellow and orange when ripe. The taste of mundu fruit is also slightly sour and fresh sweet. Usually this mundu can be eaten directly or can be processed into jelly and jam.
