Mending Jeans
I love a good pair of jeans that fit perfectly. I panic when those jeans start wearing thin, since I do not want to go searching for a new pair. I hate trying on pair after pair, with nothing fitting as well as those old jeans.
Enter the Japanese art of sashiko. Thick, soft cotton thread is used to strengthen the thin spots.
I did not have genuine sashiko thread, but I have lots of fine crochet cotton. The needles used in sashiko are long and have large eyes to acommodate thick thread. I did have the proper needles, so now I have two pairs of jeans to work on as I watch football and basketball on TV.
