Dirndl: Minor Setback, but Back on Track Now
This lovely fabric is still being sewn into a dirndl, but my first bodice was too tight and the facings did not please me. I also wanted the fabric to have more body. My solution? Cut a new bodice (yes, I had enough fabric) and a full lining plus a layer of featherweight interfacing, all from the bodice pattern pieces.
I have fused the interfacing to the bodice pieces, sewn them together, and sewn the lining pieces together. I will try to get some pictures of the process of joining the lining and bodice tomorrow, when I have daylight for pictures. Replacing facings with a lining is often simpler than dealing with armhole and neckline facings.
I am hopeful I can have a finished project soon. Stay tuned!
