Snow days - my poetry
Snow day
Snow days were sparse
in my Canadian youth
We braved the northern wind
to get to school;
wrapped up to our
eyes in scarves and
mittens tuckcd
into our coat cuffs
plastic bread bags
lining our boots
to make them waterproof
we waited for the bell to ring
looking out at our playground
graced in white
pristine and
shimmering in the sun
still untouched by
childlike wonderand
knew that we were
destined to make a mess of it
