Today, just as the sun was beginning to warm up after several rainy days, my dad surprised me with a perfectly ripe cacao pod. He had just returned from his usual walk among the cacao trees. Those who only know chocolate bars are surprised when I tell them about my weakness for fresh cacao. But if you've been lucky enough to try it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's not chocolate yet; it's something much wilder and more refreshing.

My dad, knowing my weakness, says to me, “Look what I found for you.” When I open it, the fruity aroma is so delicious. Those white seeds covered in soft, shiny pulp are the best breakfast in the world for me, especially when I'm in my favorite place with that view that I always want to appreciate.

What fascinates me most is that unique contrast, that first sweet hit that quickly transforms into a vibrant acidity. It's a flavor that awakens your senses, that forces you to be present. It's juicy, it's fresh, and it has that velvety texture that makes you want to enjoy each seed without rushing.

Today my morning tasted like that perfect sweet/sour, like home and gratitude. I'm left with that sensation on my palate and my heart full, 🥰 grateful for the cacao plants and, above all, for the man who taught me to appreciate their value.

Hoy apenas empezaba a calentar el sol, pues han sido días lluviosos mi papá me sorprende con una maraca de cacao perfectamente madura, él venía de su caminata habitual entre las plantas de cacao. ​Quienes solo conocen el chocolate en barra se sorprenden cuando les hablo de mi debilidad por el cacao fresco. Pero si tú, has tenido la suerte de probarlo, sabes exactamente de qué hablo, no es chocolate aún; es algo mucho más salvaje y refrescante.

​Mi papá, conociendo mi debilidad, me dice "Mira lo que encontré para ti". Al abrirla, el aroma frutal es tan deliciosos, esas semillas blancas cubiertas de una pulpa suave y brillante, son para mí el mejor desayuno del mundo y mas si es en mi lugar favorito y con esa vista que quiero apreciar siempre.

​Lo que más me fascina es ese contraste único, es ese primer golpe dulce que rápidamente se transforma en una acidez vibrante. Es un sabor que te despierta los sentidos, que te obliga a estar presente. Es jugoso, es fresco y tiene esa textura aterciopelada que te hace querer disfrutar cada semilla sin prisa.

​Hoy mi mañana supo a ese dulce/ácido perfecto, a hogar y a gratitud. Me quedo con esa sensación en el paladar y el corazón llenito, 🥰 agradeciendo por las plantas de cacao y sobre todo, por el hombre que me enseñó a apreciar su valor.
