Simple Syrup for Middle Eastern Desserts

Ingredients
🥄 6 cups granulated sugar
💧 3 cups water
🍋 3 teaspoons lemon juice
Instructions
1- Prepare the Syrup:
- In a large saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water.
- Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved.
2- Boil the Mixture:
- Increase heat and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the lemon juice.
3- Simmer:
- Allow the syrup to simmer gently, undisturbed, for 10 to 12 minutes.
- This will help thicken the syrup slightly.
4- Cool Down:
- Remove the saucepan from heat.
- Let the syrup cool down completely to room temperature. This is crucial for achieving the right consistency.
5- Store:
- Transfer the cooled syrup into glass jars or bottles.
- Make sure to seal them tightly. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month.
