Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is a staple in many Middle Eastern desserts, adding just the right amount of sweetness and depth of flavor. This easy-to-make syrup is not only perfect for your favorite desserts but can also be used to sweeten drinks. Keep a batch on hand to enhance your culinary creations effortlessly.
Ingredients
🍚 6 cups sugar (cane sugar recommended)
💧 3 cups room temperature water
🍋 3 teaspoons lemon juice
Instructions
1- Combine Ingredients:
- In a large pot, combine the sugar, water, and lemon juice.
- Stir the mixture well to ensure the sugar is fully dissolved.
2- Boil Mixture:
- Place the pot on the stove over high heat.
- Allow the mixture to come to a boil, and let it continue boiling for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Keep an eye on the syrup to ensure it does not over-boil.
3- Cool Down:
- After the boiling period, remove the pot from heat.
- Allow the simple syrup to cool down to room temperature.
4- Store Syrup:
- Once cooled, transfer the syrup into a sterilized glass jar for storage.
- Make sure the jar is airtight to preserve freshness.
5- Ready to Use:
- Your simple syrup is now ready!
- Use it to enhance the sweetness of Middle Eastern desserts such as baklava and kunafa, or to elevate your favorite beverages.
