Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
🥔 10 large potatoes, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
🧂 1 tablespoon of salt, for boiling
🧈 1 stick of unsalted butter
🧄 5 cloves of garlic, minced
🥛 1 cup of milk
🥛 1/2 cup of heavy cream
🥣 1/2 cup of sour cream
🧂 1 teaspoon of salt
🌶️ 1 teaspoon of black or white pepper
🌿 Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish
Instructions
1- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Start by peeling and washing the potatoes.
- Cut them into bite-sized pieces to ensure even cooking.
2- Boil the Potatoes:
- Place the cut potatoes in a large pot.
- Add enough cold water to cover the potatoes and include 1 tablespoon of salt.
- Bring the water to a boil and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, which will take about 20-25 minutes.
- Once cooked, drain the potatoes thoroughly.
3- Prepare the Garlic Mixture:
- While the potatoes are boiling, melt the butter in a separate pot over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Pour in the milk and heavy cream and bring the mixture to a simmer.
4- Mash the Potatoes:
- Return the drained potatoes to the original pot.
- Add the sour cream, additional 1 teaspoon of salt, and the black or white pepper.
- Pour in the milk and garlic mixture.
- Use a potato masher or an electric mixer to mash until the potatoes are smooth and creamy.
5- Serve:
- Transfer the creamy mashed potatoes to a serving dish.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and an extra pat of butter if desired.
- Serve warm.
