Shadow – Walking Through Light and Silence | Shadow Hunters (SMASh) Contest-Round 433

While Ina prepared for her abacus competition at Fairfield Marriott Bali on that same Sunday morning, I wandered through the hotel corridors and pathways, noticing something just as powerful as reflection—shadow.

This entry captures those quiet contrasts where light does not just illuminate, but shapes everything it touches.

Inside the corridor, sunlight filtered through patterned screens, casting intricate geometric shadows across the floor. My wife walking hand-in-hand with our son moved slowly through this lattice of light and darkness, their silhouettes briefly merging with the environment. It felt like time itself was patterned - step by step, frame by frame.

Outside near the driveway, the strong Bali sun created bold, graphic shadow grids across the pavement. A parked car and passing guests became part of a shifting composition, where nothing stood still - not even shadows.

Further along, textured walls with woven or perforated designs produced another layer of shadow play. Light passed through them like coded messages, scattering patterns that changed with every angle of movement.

These shadows felt like reminders that even in a bright place, life always carries contrast—direction and uncertainty walking side by side.

And in that hotel full of competition energy and family tension, I found unexpected calm in the way shadows quietly told their own story—without ever needing sound.
