Prompt: Button People

This is my drawing for day 24 of the justdraw challenge. The prompt for today is button people. so I went with two red play buttons dancing and having fun to their kind of lively music. I wanted them to look like cute little characters that came to life from a music player. The one on top has his arms up waving and dancing, mouth open to show that he is really into the song, and the one below is smiling big and doing a little dance move next to him. I added pink music notes and sparkles floating around to show they are jamming together and are happy and not boring buttons. They both have little shoes, blush on their cheeks, and that classic red play button look with dark blue sides. I thought this would be pretty quick and easy because they are simple shapes, but it wasn’t. Getting them to look like they are actually dancing took a lot of tries. The arms and legs kept looking stiff no matter what I did, so I redrew the poses several times not sure if I will give them pronounced fingers or none at all. The taller one’s raised arm was tricky to make it look natural, and I had to adjust the smiles and eyes a bunch so they looked happy and excited instead of weird and lifeless. Even the music notes took longer than expected to place so they didn’t cover the characters too much. I already have forgotten how a real music note looks like I might have sketched them wrong. Anyway, here they are, my two dancing play button buddies having a good time. What do you think? Do they look like they’re enjoying the music or still kinda stiff and posey?
