Project Log 4: Ughu and Eghi the moons
I just love the way the ochre and the teal are mixing on the page while I was sketching these images of the binary moon. I think I finally got the vibe for Ughu and Eghi. The two moons now have names. Funny but I love how they compliment each other.
Ughu is heavy. That’s the word. Like a big, weathered rock that’s been sitting in the desert sand forever. I gave it these sleepy, heavy eyes because it feels like it’s seen everything already. Taking its time. It is the Old Moon, the anchor. If you are a traveler, you look at Ughu for your anchor.
Then, Eghi. Totally different it is small, sharp, and a bit like a kid. I painted it with that cold star-iron blue because it is the new moon the one that is always ahead. I gave it that little smirk because it thinks it’s faster than the night itself. The idea of being playful in general.
I’m playing with this race myth. Eghi tries to outrun the dark, gets exhausted, and Ughu just... catches it. That grip moment. It’s why the Clan-Lock buckles have those two asymmetrical crescents. The contrast between the sandy, tired Ughu and the bright Eghi is definitely the core of it. Like a grumpy guardian and a kid scout (kind of like LohummTi and the elders, maybe?).
