🏛️Greetings, friends of Worldmaping.

It will always be a pleasure to return to this community to talk or tell you about what I enjoyed during my visit to the municipal museum.

🏛️Today I will describe what could be called the Decorative Arts room of this institution. I already mentioned in the previous post that the museography that was established for the reopening of the museum, after a thorough restoration, confirmed three exhibition rooms.

🏛️One dedicated to the topic of tobacco, one to local history and the other, which is in the center, to the decorative arts. At least, I'm going to define it with that name to tell you about that room with its modest collection.

🏛️Almost the entire collection in this part of the Julio César Valdés museum was obtained as part of the policy of confiscation of assets of people who permanently emigrated abroad back in the eighties of the last century. And it could have been larger and more interesting if some predators had not been ahead of the heritage authorities.

🏛️In this place there are very well preserved assets belonging to the "Fisco Junco" family, one of the best positioned in the municipality, dedicated mainly to the raising of cattle and the cultivation of tobacco.

🏛️The most outstanding thing that we can see there is the large and very strong dining table typical of the homes of the petite bourgeoisie.

🏛️This piece of furniture made of Ebony shows the die-cut edge and is designed for eight diners, one for each head and three for each side. Keep your eight chairs with the tanned leather backrests in good condition.

🏛️The complete set of tableware is also part of this furniture, which is displayed as it was used in its time.

🏛️Accompanying this beautiful piece for domestic service is a sideboard also decorated with bas-reliefs, where all the utensils used in that activity were kept.

🏛️Nearby is the desk-wardrobe with the finely crafted and elegant doors. bas-reliefs that reproduce elements of nature, such as cups from which abundant fruits hang, allegories of wealth.

🏛️Entering this small room creates the sensation of a trip to history that describes the way of life of a family that contrasts with that of another social level, but at the same time it is a world full of protocols that are revealed through each element and each detail. A comfortable, orderly, but rigid life, with little space for the spontaneous and free.

🏛️There that life and purchasing power are also reproduced through other typical objects of the time, such as a knob-style living room set, mirrors, dressers, chandeliers, ceiling lamps, etc.

🏛️The expression of power through privileged access to the world of art hangs on one of the walls with a scene where a group of intellectuals chat. the era of chivalric novels (affected by poor restoration). One of the characters is supposed to be the same as Cervantes, and if that were true, it would be before the battle of Lepanto, where the Spanish genius lost a hand.

🏛️Other decorative elements fill the exhibition space, such as a sculpture that is supposed to be that of Bacchus, the god of wine; Others say she is Aphrodite, the goddess of fertility. Of course, this is a smaller scale copy than the life-size one, although in his right hand, raised above his head, he holds a horn (surely the one of plenty) that is topped with a bomb that turns it into a night lamp.

🏛️It is also part of the "Oil Portraits" space of some relevant figures of San Luis society from the last century, as well as an oil portrait, also of my authorship, of the person of the which now takes the name Municipal Museum, and a display case where objects and documents of that important figure in local history are preserved.

🏛️Once again I entered this institution to consciously enjoy the pieces that are exhibited there and the history that they reveal to us when we come into contact with them.

🏛️Today I have felt very good with this other visit, of quality and peaceful.

Siempre va a ser un placer regresar a esta comunidad para conversar o contarles sobre lo que disfruté en mi visita al museo municipal.

Hoy les describiré lo que podría llamarse la sala de Artes Decorativas de esta institución. Ya les mencioné en el post anterior que la museografía que se estableció para la reapertura del museo, después de una profunda restauración, confirmó tres salas expositoras.

Una dedicada al tema del tabaco, una a la historia local y la otra, que está en el centro, a las artes decorativas. Por lo menos, con ese nombre la voy a definir para hablarles de esa sala con su modesta colección.

Casi toda la colección de esta parte del museo Julio César Valdés se obtuvo como parte de la política de confiscación de bienes de las personas que emigraban de forma permanente hacia el exterior allá por los años ochenta del pasado siglo. Y pudo ser más amplia e interesante si algunos depredadores no se hubiesen adelantado a las autoridades de patrimonio.

En este lugar se encuentran muy bien conservados bienes pertenecientes a la familia de "Fisco Junco", una de las mejor posicionadas del municipio, dedicada principalmente a la cría de ganado vacuno y al cultivo del tabaco.

Lo más sobresaliente que allí podemos observar es la amplia y fortísima mesa de comedor típica de los hogares de la pequeña burguesía.

Este mueble hecho de ébano muestra el borde troquelado y está diseñado para ocho comensales, uno por cada cabecera y tres por cada lateral. Conserve sus ocho sillas con los espaldares de cuero curtido en buen estado de conservación.

También forma parte de este mueble el juego completo de vajillas, que se expone tal como lo utilizaban en su época.

Acompañan a esta bella pieza para el servicio doméstico un aparador también decebano también decorado con bajorrelieves, donde se guardaban todos los utensilios que se usaban en esa actividad

Cerca de allí se encuentra el armario-escritorio con las puertecitas finamente elaboradas y elegantes bajorelieves que reproducen elementos de la naturaleza, como copas de las que cuelgan abundantes frutos, alegorías de la riqueza.

Entrar a esta pequeña sala me crea la sensación de un viaje a la historia que describe el modo de vida de una familia que contrasta con la de otro nivel social, pero a la vez es un mundo lleno de protocolos que se delatan a través de cada elemento y cada detalle. Una vida cómoda, ordenada, pero rígida, con poco espacio para lo espontáneo y libre.

Allí también se reproduce esa vida y el poder adquisitivo a través de otros objetos típicos de la época, como un juego de sala estilo perilla, espejos, coquetas, candelabros, lámparas de techo, etc.

La expresión del poder a través del acceso privilegiado al mundo del arte cuelga en una de las paredes con una escena donde charlan un grupo de intelectuales de la época de las novelas de caballería (afectada por una deficiente restauración). Se supone que uno de los personajes es igual a Cervantes, y si eso fuera cierto, sería antes de la batalla de Lepanto, donde el genio español perdió una mano.

Otros elementos decorativos rellenan el espacio expositivo, como una escultura que se supone que es la de Baco, el dios del vino; otros dicen que es Afrodita, la diosa de la fertilidad. Claro que esta es una copia a menor escala que la de tamaño real, aunque en su mano derecha, alzada por encima de la cabeza, sostiene un cuerno (seguro que el de la abundancia) que está rematado en su parte superior con una bomba que la convierte en una lámpara de noche.

También forma parte del espacio "Retratos al Óleo" de algunos personajes relevantes de la sociedad sanluiseña del siglo pasado, así como un retrato también al óleo, de mi autoría, de la persona de la cual toma ahora el nombre Museo Municipal, y una vitrina donde se conservan objetos y documentos de esa importante figura de la historia local.

Otra vez entré a esta institución para disfrutar conscientemente de las piezas que allí se exhiben y de la historia que nos develan cuando entramos en contacto con ellas.

Hoy me he sentido muy bien con esta otra visita, de calidad y apacible.
