Traditional Turkish Coffee for Beginners

Turkish coffee is a beloved staple in Turkish cuisine, celebrated for its rich texture and unique brewing process. This traditional method results in a strong, unfiltered coffee with a layer of velvety foam on top. Designed for beginners, this recipe guides you through crafting a perfect cup of Turkish coffee, capturing the essence of this timeless tradition.

Ingredients

☕️ 8g of finely ground Turkish coffee Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi
💧 80ml of water (for a richer taste—use warm around 70°C)

Instructions

1- Setup:

  • Place the copper cezve on the digital scale and tare it to zero.

2- Combine Ingredients:

  • Add 8g of finely ground Turkish coffee into the cezve.

  • Measure 80ml of warm water using the scale.
  • Pour it into the cezve with the coffee grounds.

4- Initial Stirring:

  • Stir gently to mix coffee grounds with the water.
  • Break up any clumps, avoiding over-stirring.

5- Heat Gently:

  • Place the cezve on a low to medium flame.
  • Heat slowly, observing closely until the foam rises.

6- Foam Formation:

  • Watch for the foam to reach the top.
  • Ensure it does not boil over.

7- Remove & Pour:

  • Once the foam rises, remove the cezve from heat.
  • Carefully pour the coffee into your cup, keeping the foam on top.

8- Rest & Serve:

  • Allow the coffee to sit for 1-2 minutes to let the grounds settle.
