How To Make Pour Over Coffee

Experience the art of crafting a flawless cup of pour-over coffee with this simple yet thorough V60 brewing guide. With precise measurements and a delicate brewing process, this recipe aims to bring out the full, nuanced flavors of your coffee, providing a superior coffee experience.

Ingredients

☕ 20g whole coffee beans, recommended: Mirror Coffee Roasters
💧 320g hot water, boiled

Instructions

1- Prepare Water and Filter:

  • Boil your water using the Fellow Kettle.
  • Fold the paper filter along its seam and place it inside the V60 dripper, which should be set atop the Glass Carafe on the digital scale.

2- Rinse Filter:

  • Pour some boiling water over the paper filter to preheat the V60 and remove any papery taste.
  • Discard the rinse water from the carafe.

3- Measure and Grind Coffee:

  • Weigh 20g of whole coffee beans using the small metal cup.
  • Grind them to a medium-coarse consistency with the Baratza coffee grinder.

4- Prepare the Coffee Bed:

  • Add the ground coffee into the rinsed filter in the V60.
  • Gently tap or shake to level the coffee bed.

5- Tare Scale:

  • Reset the digital scale to zero with the V60 and coffee placed on it.

6- First Pour (Bloom):

  • Start a timer and pour 50g of hot water over the coffee bed in gentle circular motions.
  • Allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds to let gases escape and the coffee expand.

7- Second Pour:

  • After the bloom, continuously pour hot water in gentle circular motions until you reach 200g on the scale.
  • Swirl the V60 slightly to ensure even distribution.

8- Draw Down:

  • Let the water draw down for approximately 10-15 seconds to aid in even extraction.

9- Final Pour:

  • Continue pouring with the same method until the scale reads 320g.
  • Gently swirl the V60 once more to help with final saturation.

10- Finish Brewing:
- Monitor the brew process to achieve a total time of approximately 3 minutes and 15 seconds.
- Once done, gently swirl the carafe to incorporate the coffee evenly.

11- Serve:
- Pour the freshly brewed coffee into the Fellow Monty Mug.
- Enjoy your meticulously prepared pour-over coffee.
