How to Make an Irish Coffee
Indulge in a cozy, warm Irish Coffee, a classic cocktail that hails from Ireland, offering rich flavors and a luxurious cream topping. Perfect for cool evenings, this beverage beautifully balances the boldness of coffee with the warmth of Irish whiskey and silky cream.
Ingredients
☕️ 4 oz hot coffee brewed using your preferred method
🥃 2 oz Irish whiskey
🥛 2 oz Hood Heavy Cream
🍬 1 tsp dark brown sugar or demerara syrup
Instructions
1- Preheat Your Glass:
- Start by filling your Irish coffee glass with hot water to warm it up.
- This prevents the glass from absorbing heat from the drink.
2- Brew Coffee:
- Prepare your hot coffee using a method of your choice, like a Moka pot, French press, or pour-over.
- The Moka pot may take a bit longer, but it's worth the wait.
3- Thicken the Cream:
- Pour cold Hood Heavy Cream into a squeeze bottle or shaker cup.
- Insert a spring from a cocktail strainer into the bottle to aid whipping.
- Shake firmly until the cream starts to thicken enough to hold its shape slightly but remains pourable.
4- Prepare the Glass:
- Empty the preheated glass of water.
5- Sweeten the Base:
- Add 1 teaspoon of dark brown sugar or demerara syrup into the glass.
- Pour in about 1 ounce of the hot coffee and stir well with a bar spoon until the sugar dissolves.
6- Incorporate Whiskey:
- Add 2 ounces of Irish whiskey to the mixture.
7- Top with Coffee:
- Fill the glass with more hot coffee, stopping about 1 inch from the top.
- Stir gently.
8- Finish with Cream:
- To create a lovely layered effect, gently float the whipped cream on top of the coffee.
- You can either squeeze it from the bottle in circles or pour it slowly over the back of a spoon.
9- Serve Immediately:
- Enjoy your Irish Coffee while it's hot, embracing the delightful contrast of the rich coffee and whiskey base with the velvety cream cap.
