prioritize the child's happiness and privacy.

The world keeps advancing every day, and social media is part of the evolution. Our forefathers were not lucky to experience the things we are enjoying now. Currently kids within the ages of four and five can have thousands of big followers on their social media handles. It surprises me how these young influencers earn; they also get people who will sponsor them or make them their ambassador. Before they get to their teens, they will be more influential, which means more popularity and more cash. To be honest, I am always excited when I come across posts from these little kids, but now comes the big question: Should children be allowed to become influencers, or are parents making decisions that will have consequences for their kids in the long run?

Also, social media provides opportunities for the kids to showcase their talents and build their confidence. I am so happy whenever I come across educative content from kids. I am always impressed in most cases by the money earned from the content; the family uses it to improve their lifestyle or save up the money for the child's future. When it comes to kids being influencers at a tender age, it’s a case that shouldn’t be ignored. These kids are so ignorant of the consequences that come with being influencers (sharing their lifestyle online). Parents post their kids' videos and photos from infancy. In years to come, the child may not be comfortable with their childhood moments on the internet.

Privacy is very important; as children, they don’t choose what to post on their social handles; their parents made decisions for them. Most of this content reveals the child's daily routines and also the embarrassing moments of their childhood. They forgot that they are endangering the lives of these young kids.

There is a probability that the child may be pressured by the parents to create content. Childhood is a moment of learning and growing. The moment a child becomes an influencer, the pressure becomes much on the child because the parents will always want the child to appear on camera for content without minding the child's feelings.

In a way it seems like the parents are using these little kids as a means of generating funds. You will see a parent that is filming a child close to four hours participating in trending dance or content. I keep asking myself this question: if these kids can generate money for the parents, who then manage this money? Are they parents saving the money for the child's future? Or are the parents embezzling the fund?

It will be very bad if we think that every parent is selfish. Some parents protect their child's privacy and limit their exposure. Most of the parents see it as an avenue to boost their child's confidence. I think our main concern should not be on the kids being influencers; it should be on protecting the children's privacy. In all this, kids should not be forced into becoming influencers just because they want to earn money; rather, it should prioritize the child's happiness and privacy. Childhood moments are so unique; protecting them should always come before growing followers and viewers for them.
