Food Discovery in the City: Trying Bulalo at R&J Bulalohan in Mandaluyong City
We went to Mandaluyong City to attend my friend’s wedding, and we got there a day early. After checking in at our Airbnb and organizing our stuff, we talked about having dinner at nearby restaurants. And as someone who’s up for food discovery, I suggested eating at R&J Bulalohan, which is just a short walk from the apartment we’re staying in.
We started walking and checking our surroundings—a big thanks to Google Maps for guiding us on our entire walk. When we got to the restaurant, there were already customers eating. The first thing I did was take pictures, and I noticed their wall displaying pictures of artists who had already eaten there.
The staff gave us their menu so we could choose and order. We decided to order their main course, Special Bulalo, then with extra rice. While waiting for our orders, I asked for a quick groufie.
It took about 20 minutes for the staff to come to us to serve our orders. My partner prepared the sauce, our plates, and everything. He also requested some water for us.
When we saw our order, it looked delicious and made us drool. I took pictures of it first since I would like to write a blog about it. After taking pictures, we started digging in. My partner got me a bowl of soup with beef and vegetables from the Bulalo. And it tasted good. While eating, we cannot stop ourselves from talking about how good it was, from the tender beef, vegetables, and tasty soup.
After eating, we had already asked for the bill since we were going to pay up. Honestly, it was pricey but worth it. We paid for it happily since we are really satisfied with our order. My friend and my partner even added extra rice because that’s how good it was. Overall, it was a great food Discovery in the city. We will definitely eat here again once we have errands to run in Mandaluyong. We will also recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants authentic Bulalo.
