If I Could Change The World, I Would Uproot Corruption
WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD IF YOU COULD
Hello #scifimultiverse, happy new month and week. I welcome you to my blog. The world has become a place of rumours, rumours of wars, corruption, strange sicknesses and ailments, inflation, and scarce resources challenges. Where do we go from here?
So, if I could change one problem in the world today, it would be corruption. Corruption has become a cankerworm that eats the facets of society, starting with the family, church, and the nation at large. In fact, it is a global challenge today.
Trending on the gram is an alleged family corruption saga that has gone viral involving a twin brother in serious allegations against the elder one. Recently, we also witnessed alleged corruption within the Argentine Football Association, including the diversion of funds generated from sponsorships and advertising. Coming home to my country of origin, we have heard of an alleged series of corrupt practices by different regulatory bodies and organisations.
Corruption affects the common man's access to basic amenities in society such as healthcare, education, good roads, drinkable water, government grants and sponsorships, among others. It also affects regulatory bodies as people tend to live above the law, disobeying the constitutional laws, rules and regulations of the land. Meanwhile, it provides access to a very few in society. They divert funds meant for the masses for their personal use and that of their allies.
Nipping corruption in the bud will ensure accountability and transparency; funds meant for the masses will reach them, and people will have access to the basic amenities. Businesses and entrepreneurs will thrive, and people will start respecting the rule of law because they understand that systems and structures are put in place to checkmate and hold them accountable for their deeds. People will start respecting each other and respecting others' boundaries.
Furthermore, to make the world a better place, ordinary people can contribute by becoming change agents in their little corners, offices, churches, and schools. Upholding honesty and truthfulness, speaking up against corrupt practices and people, this way, there will be a revolutionary wind of change across all sectors of life that will impact people's conscience and transform lives into a better world that hates corruption. This is because a tree cannot make a forest, but collective and steady efforts by all and sundry towards eliminating corruption will go a long way.
In the end, the goal of making this world a better place where we can thrive together, in kindness and unity without corrupt minds and hatred, caring for each other, will be achieved.
