Impending Battle

Vini rode his horse to breaking point as he was determined on reaching the viltic fortresss before nightfall, he knew the Cossian army would attack in a few days time and he had to warn the Commander. They had not prepared for any face off with the Cossians. Knowing fully well that they are at the disadvantaged, they never try anything to prick the delicate relationship between them but now, that was a thing of the past. They have to stand fast now or risk becoming history.
"Open the gates!!!" Vini shouted to the guards even before he came to it.
Once inside, he rode straight to the commander's quarters and ran in. He met the commander in council with his captains.
Seems you know what's coming, he thought.
"Why the rush, Vini?" The commander asked. He had never seen this scout so apprehensive.
"Sir! The Cossians are advancing on the fortress. They will be upon us in two days!"
There was a murmur among the gathered captains. Captain Golrid rose to speak.
"Commander, I told you it was a bad idea to grant assylum to the Halbor captives taken by the Cossian who escaped to us for protection. Now, this singular act of kindness wants to lead to the destruction of the city!" He fumed.
'We have no choice". The commander said. "Prepare for battle!"
