Tricky Rulesets Made This 15 Mana Battle Much Harder Than Expected
When difficult rulesets appear in low mana battles, they certainly create challenges for monster selection and players become confused about which monster to choose and how to select it.
Today, in a 15 mana battle, I suffered a terrible defeat and I am not very happy about it. Again, because of one mistake on my part I lost this battle. Although I understood both of the rulesets very well. I still made a mistake which I will discuss further.
First, let’s understand the rulesets and see which two rulesets appeared in this 15 mana battle that created problems for me.
FALLEN LEGENDS
The first one was Fallen Legends where a very strict rule is applied that you cannot support Legendary summoners. This means that all Legendary summoners are disabled in this battle and you can only select Common, Rare or Epic summoners... So it is better to choose a summoner that is not only strong but also supportive for your team..
MANEUVERS
The second ruleset is called Maneuvers and in this rule all units receive the Reach ability. What does Reach do? Normally melee monsters can only attack from the first position unless they have abilities like Opportunity.
However the Reach ability allows your melee attackers to attack even from the second position. In other words if you place a melee attack monster in the second position it will continue attacking the enemy units every round.
The best strategic tip for this battle would have been to place two powerful melee monsters on the front line and that alone would have been enough to win. The mistake I made was this that in a low mana battle with these 2 rulesets instead of selecting both melee attackers, I selected rangeattacker.
With such technical rulesets, it becomes confusing to decide which monsters to select. My goal was to choose at least two monsters along with one summoner because if I selected only one monster, much of my mana would go to waste.
For that reason, I selected low mana monster cards but among those costing less than five mana I did not have good melee attackers. As a result I was forced to place a ranged attacker in the second position and unfortunatel that ranged attacker did not make even a single attack against the enemy units.
I selected two monsters along with one summoner while my opponent selected only one monster. However that monster had good Health and 2 melee attack power. Because of that, it eliminated both of my allied units within two rounds and I ended up losing the battle.
This was my biggest mistake. I should have selected melee attackers for both positions so that they could keep attacking every round with strong melee damage and deal as much damage as possible to the enemy units.
If you ever face this kind of low-mana battle with a similar ruleset, what would your strategy be? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
