38 Mana Battle Gone Wrong — Reach, Opportunity & Sneak Destroyed My Team
Today's 38 mana battle was very interesting but unfortunately I lost this battle. I was not expecting to lose because I carefully understood the rulesets and selected my monsters according to them.
However maybe my opponent was a more experienced player and his selection was better than mine. That is why I lost this battle.
First let's look at the special rulesets in this battle and understand the two rulesets that told us which strategies and restrictions we should follow.
The first ruleset is Fate's Certainty.
FATES CERTAINTY
This is a ruleset where all units that have Affliction, Poison, Poison Burst and Stun get a 100% chance to trigger their abilities.
If you select a unit that has the Affliction ability, it will always activate its debuff ability and completely block the enemy monster's healing. That is exactly what Affliction does that it prevents healing.
So in this strategy it is important to select monsters with the Affliction ability so that all enemy healing monsters are prevented from recovering their health.
Next is Poison Burst.
In Poison Burst you should select monsters that have the Poison Burst ability because it has a 100% chance to trigger in this ruleset. When it triggers the attacked enemy takes 2 poison damage and the adjacent monster has a 50% chance to receive poison as well.
With Poison the affected monster keeps losing 1 to 2 health at the start of every round until the effect ends.
In the same way selecting monsters with the Stun ability is also a good strategy. Stun prevents the enemy monster from attacking for a turn after the ability successfully triggers. If you have monsters with these abilities in your deck they become very important picks in this ruleset.
Unfortunately I only had monsters with Affliction and did not have monsters with the other abilities to fully benefit from this ruleset. Because of that I could not take full advantage of it.
The second important ruleset is Counterspell.
COUNTERSPELL
In this ruleset, all Magic units receive 50% of the damage they deal back to themselves.
In other words if you use a Magic attacker and it successfully attacks, it will receive back 50% of the damage it dealt.
Because of this you should avoid selecting Magic attackers in this ruleset.
Keeping both of these rulesets in mind I selected five monsters. I placed heavy melee attackers in the front while the middle and backline were filled with ranged attackers.
I did not select any Magic attackers because they would receive 50% reflected damage. So I focused mainly on melee and ranged attacks.
I placed two tank monsters in the front while the remaining positions were filled with offensive ranged attackers so they could continuously deal damage to the enemy team.
Unfortunately my opponent's lineup was much better. He selected several monsters with Reach, Opportunity and Sneak abilities, allowing him to attack different positions across my team. As a result I kept taking continuous damage throughout the battle.
It was a one sided battle. All of my monsters were eliminated while only one of my opponents monsters was defeated and all others remain alive..
Even though I lost but still I learned a lot from this battle. Next time I will make a better team selection for this ruleset and hopefully secure the victory.
What would your strategy be in this type of ruleset? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
I hope you find this post useful and informative.. If you do, please remember to reblog it so that it reaches as many people as possible and that they can benefit the most from it. Also remember to upvote which will help me financially and grow my account.
